Two charged after protests at Kier’s £400m prison job

Two individuals had been arrested at a protest blocking the doorway to the development web site at HMP Full Sutton jail close to York on Tuesday (31 January).

Kier’s work on the web site, which is able to add 1,400 areas to the jail inhabitants, was disrupted by 10 protesters from the HS2 Rebellion group. The activists stated they had been appearing in “solidarity with the growing numbers of protestors being despatched to jail” and in opposition to the brand new Public Order Invoice, which is able to enhance police energy to crackdown on such actions.

A Humberside Police spokesperson stated yesterday that two arrests had been made and an extra three individuals had been reported for summons, to attend court docket in future.

Rosie Gunter, 23, of Macclesfield, Cheshire was charged with aggravated trespass and Chloe Boxall, 21, of no mounted abode, was charged with obstructing a police officer.

Each have been bailed to seem at court docket at a later date.
